Dr David Lee is a UK trained Consultant Clinical Psychologist at the Camali Clinic in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. He has extensive experience of working with children and families, as well in working with adults.
Dr David trained as a Doctor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Leeds, after completing bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Psychology at the University of Manchester. He has worked in a variety of UK National Health Service settings, both outpatient and inpatient, as a Clinical Psychologist, and specialises in the assessment and treatment of a wide variety of emotional and mental health problems in children, families and in adults. Dr David has experience of working in Early Intervention for Psychosis services, secondary care mental health services and in working with male and female inpatients with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties, including self-harm, trauma, addictions, and eating disorders. Dr David also worked in the UK private sector where he was the UK national Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist for a large organisation providing residential care for looked after children.
Dr David is skilled in the psychological assessment and treatment of emotional problems. He uses a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches including Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-based approaches, Attachment Theory and Family Systems approaches. He is experienced in delivering one-to-one therapy and group therapy, as well as in working therapeutically with families (e.g. parents) and educational professionals (e.g. teachers). Dr David believes strongly in a holistic approach to mental health care and in the advantage of adopting a tailored approach to helping children and families with the problems that they are facing.
Dr David is a skilled and experienced trainer and workshop facilitator. In the UK, he has run and coordinated three independent psychology clinics across the North-West of England. He has also played an active role in mental health education, media awareness-raising and training with the wide aim of challenging negative stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health in society.
