School Readiness Programme

School Readiness Program in Dubai

The School Readiness Program (SRP) is a unique service offered by Camali Clinic (located in Dubai Healthcare City). The SRP program is designed for children (ages 3-6) as a bridge program from the home environment to a KG1 school environment. The structure of the program is similar to that of a mainstream school (such as having circle time, snack time, work lessons which involve different themes, etc), However the curriculum is personalized to the needs of your child and the areas where skill acquisition is needed. The program is supervised by both a Licensed Psychologist and a Board-Certified Behavior Analysis (BCBA).

How does the assessment process work?

The family would first sign up for an initial consultation appointment with the Head of ABA. During the initial consultation, a screening would be conducted to determine if your child would be a good match for our program. Once that has taken place, if the child is a good match they would start services immediately.

Focus of the program

The program focuses on social integration (with both staff and other peers), as well as basic academic skills which will prepare your child to integrate into KG1. All programs are overseen by a Licensed Psychologist and a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) and who works closely with the ABA therapists in developing education programs specific for your child. Regular parent contact with both the staff and the BCBA will allow you to effectively monitor your child’s progress.

The BDI assessment (Battelle Developmental Inventory) is administered to assess your child’s functioning level and will be the basis for both behavioral and programming development. The BDI assessment will be conducted every year to assess the progress your child has made and identify areas of continued focus.

  • Who will be working with your children?

Teaching assistants working with your child have extensive experience in working with children with special needs. The staff have received extensive training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and have either obtained or are in the process of obtaining their RBT credential (Registered Behavior Technician). Utilizing an ABA approach will ensure proper skill acquisition, as well as support with behavioral management techniques.

  • When you should consider the program?

If your child is starting to have behavioral difficulties in the nursery or you are having challenges obtaining a spot in school due to behavioral or developmental issues, please explore setting up an assessment for our School Readiness Program to see how we can help.

Parent Involvement/Transition to Mainstream School

The program is designed as such that the parent will be regularly involved in their child’s progress. Parent meetings will be held to inform you of your child’s progress. Further, when you child transitions to a mainstream school we will assist with the transition by providing the mainstream school the areas which were focused on as well as appropriate behavioral strategies as necessary.

Additionally, should you choose to you can have a Camali trained school shadow who will have the same training as the staff of this program work with your child in the mainstream school environment.

Mutlti-Disciplinary

A unique feature of our program is the incorporation of Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy and Applied Behavioral Analysis. Each student will receive services in each of these areas independent of the classroom environment. These professionals (with the corresponding licensure) will work with your child individually once a week for the duration of the program. This will ensure that all of the major milestones required for transition into the KG1 environment are being addressed
